Sproles Named Vice President and
Mortgage Loan Officer for Highlands Union Bank

Kirk Sproles has been promoted to vice president and mortgage loan officer at Highlands Union Bank.

Sproles’ primary responsibility will be to assist customers with their lending needs on residential home loans. He will work out of the bank’s Main Street headquarters in Abingdon.

“Over a 10-year period, Kirk has built a reputation of trust with our customers and with the community, and we’re fortunate to have him on our management team,” says Highlands Union Bank CEO Sam Neese. "In his new role, he will continue to focus on lending, and our customers know they can depend on him to provide the best advice and service.”

Sproles joined Highlands Union in 1997 and subsequently served as loan officer and assistant vice president.

“I am very thankful to our organization for this opportunity, and I look forward to continuing my career here at Highlands Union with a wonderful group of banking professionals,” Sproles says. "It is a pleasure to serve our customers and be able to help them with all their banking needs.”

A native of the area, Sproles graduated from Abingdon High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn. He and his wife, Traci, reside in Abingdon.

Highlands Union Bank has assets in excess of $620 million. The bank serves the region through its main office in Abingdon and 12 other branches: two each in Abingdon and Bristol, Va.; one each in Glade Spring and Marion, Va.; one each in Sevierville, Rogersville and Blountville, Tenn.; and three locations in North Carolina – bank branches in Boone and Banner Elk and a loan office in West Jefferson. A full-service branch in Knoxville, Tenn., is currently under construction and expected to open in the fall of 2007.
